Parappa the Rapper has always been very popular in Japan, and that's thanks to some extremely well-thought-out marketing by Sony. Both "Crash Bandicoot" and "Parappa the Rapper" had a fierce battle to win the title of the official Playstation mascot in the early days of the console, but in the end, none of them won. The winner was the lovable cat "Toro", which remained their mascot until the early 2010s.
These commercials will seem very random for people not accustomed to Japanese humor, but trust me, they're surprisingly entertaining. It doesn't matter if you know Japanese or not, you'll probably still get the idea of the commercials. There's a few French and American commercials as well as a little bonus!
